About Dr. Ahrens

Speech Success in Emerson, New Jersey, is a caring and compassionate practice devoted to helping children overcome speech and language delays.

With a clinical doctorate in speech-language pathology, Jacqueline Ahrens, SLPD, CCC-SLP, ASHA ACE recipient and Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, performs comprehensive evaluations, diagnoses the problem, and creates a customized treatment that supports each child’s success. Dr. Ahrens provides exceptional speech therapy for challenges such as stuttering, articulation disorder, social skills, and apraxia of speech. She also offers customized care for language disorders and voice disorders.

With a special passion for working with children who have autism, Dr. Ahrens helps them learn the skills they need to advance their communication and improve social skills. No matter what type of therapy children need, they accomplish the goal through play. Dr. Ahrens builds on children’s strengths and engages them by incorporating their interests into therapeutic activities. She also uses proven techniques she has received advanced training in such as the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS®) and Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT)
The team at Speech Success spends time with families, learning about their challenges and building a trusting rapport with their children. They provide educational advocacy and parent coaching. Dr. Ahrens also helps families find the services they need, such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, or an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) provider.

Dr. Ahrens received her bachelor’s degree from Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, studying special education, psychology, and elementary education. She then completed her master’s and a doctoral degree in speech-language pathology at Kean University’s Nathan Weiss Graduate College in Union, New Jersey where she taught in the master’s degree program. Before founding Speech Success, Dr. Ahrens gained experience in diverse settings, including education, private practice, home health care, and early intervention. As a result, she has a vast knowledge of assessing and treating children.

She holds a certificate of clinical competency from the American Speech and Hearing Association and is certified in behavioral/crisis intervention by the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
